FAQ

  • Yes! Our financial sponsor is a registered non-profit in Washington State and exempt from federal income tax under IRS Section 501(c)(3) - InWorthy. EIN is 39-3637719, UBI is 605 938 888.

Check our shiny IRS determination letter!

And, you can probably see, we’re not tax experts! So, for additional tax advice, seek out a trusted source.

  • “TEDxSammamish Women” itself cannot become a registered non-profit due to TED licensing restrictions. So, while our event is 100% volunteer-led and is a not for profit event, we needed an IRS Section 501c3 non-profit for financial support. InWorthy was started for that purpose -  to be the financial sponsor of TEDxSammamish Women (and maybe additional worthwhile causes in the future).

  • $0.00. Our speakers are donating all of their time and own resources to bring their idea to TEDxSammamish Women. Besides that, it’s against the TED rules.

  • We can. And, we recognize that not everyone is in a position to be able to pay to attend. With this debut event, we are only permitted to host 100 audience members. Therefore, we want to keep the costs as reasonable and affordable for the furthest reach as possible - donations will help us make that possible.

  • We’re doing our best on that! And, we can’t spend money we don’t have, so yeah, we’re working every option we can right now. The primary driver of our costs right now is AV tech to record our speaker presentations. Without high quality recordings, TED will be quite unlikely to promote TEDxSammamish Women content. And, while that’s not the only reason we’re having this event, it’s an important one. We’d love to establish ourselves as great hosts and curators for TEDx so we can continue to receive a license for future events with larger audiences.

  • We are! In addition to our time, we’re donating money and other resources. And, for many of us, the reason we’re able to plan and organize this event is due to a layoff or other life change. TED doesn’t give us any money for the event. So, while we’re innovative, we’re working every idea possible to make this event possible.

And, we welcome all donations - in-kind, pro bono or monetary (and everything along that spectrum). So, contact organizer@tedxsammamishwomen.com with in-kind, pro bono, or other types of non-monetary donations.

  • 100% yes. Receipts are auto-generated when donating directly on our website at the link above. PayPal, Venmo and Zelle have different processes. However you donate, we’ll ensure you receive a receipt! Questions? Send to organizer@tedxsammamishwomen.com.
